The second season of Fallout is hitting Amazon Prime Video earlier than first announced – with the first episode coming later today (December 16).

The first season of Fallout premiered in April 2024 with all eight episodes available on Amazon Prime Video the same day. The adaptation of the hit video game series went on to become one of the streamer’s most popular releases and a second season was greenlit shortly afterwards.

Fallout season two wrapped filming in May and a December release date was also confirmed. Originally the first episode was set to launch tomorrow (December 17) with new episodes released weekly – however, it’s now been confirmed that the Fallout season two premiere will come later today.

The early release was announced via the Las Vegas Sphere. According to a press release, the takeover brought “an element of the season’s journey to New Vegas to life by turning Sphere into a post-apocalyptic snow globe featuring series’ fan-favourite characters Lucy, Maximus and The Ghoul, and surprising with a monstrously large Deathclaw attempting to break through the Exosphere.”

Fallout season two will “pick up in the aftermath of season one’s epic finale and take audiences along for a journey through the wasteland of the Mojave to the post-apocalyptic city of New Vegas”. Ella Purnell (Lucy) has described the upcoming season as a “buddy road trip” with Lucy and The Ghoul “trying to influence one another”.

Last week, Amazon Prime Video surprise-released a 90-minute Fallout Christmas special ‘The Ghoul Log’ featuring The Ghoul, Dogmeat and a human arm. A third season has already been confirmed and could begin filming early next year, with creators eager to release new episodes as quickly as possible. “I think what’s happened with television, in terms of taking longer and longer from season to season, is kind of an unfortunate trend,” executive producer Jonathon Nolan told IGN. According to the show’s Aaron Moten, the plan is for Fallout to run for as many as six seasons.

In other news, the first trailer for the upcoming Street Fighter movie has been released, with Jason Momoa and 50 Cent both set to star in the adaptation.
