Ryan Hurst as Kratos in 'God Of War'.

Amazon Prime Video are currently working on a live-action adaptation of hit video game God Of War – here’s who’s been cast in the project so far.

In January it was announced that Ryan Hurst, who played Thor in the God Of War games, would be taking on the role of Kratos for the adaptation.

Now more actors have been confirmed for the series. Severance star Ólafur Darri Ólafsson will be playing God Of Thunder Thor, “a mountain of a man who has weathered many a battle in his time, but whose actions in a war fought long ago now haunt his waking hours.

“Once the loyal soldier of Asgard and his father’s right-hand man, Thor is now but a shadow of his former self as he drowns himself in alcohol and tries not to think of the price he paid. Keeping his wife and children at arm’s length has only deepened his isolation, but the power (and danger) of the God Of Thunder is still there just beneath the surface,” reads the official character description.

According to Deadline, Teresa Palmer will play Thor’s wife, Sif and Max Parker will take on the role of Heimdall. Mandy Patinkin will star as Odin. “The All-Father is not physically imposing or particularly god-like: but looks can be deceiving. He is the most powerful Aesir god, a patriarch who leads with an iron fist, and an unrivalled seeker of knowledge. When it comes to seeking out prophecy, Odin is paranoid, manipulative and dangerous – he will do anything to try and prevent Ragnarök, the Norse end of days. He serves as a formidable antagonist to Kratos,” said Amazon Prime in a press release.

Ed Skrein will play main antagonist Baldur. “He may be the youngest son of Odin, but he’s his father’s most dangerous weapon,” reads an official description. “Charismatic, unpredictable and armed with a razor-sharp tongue, Baldur lives by his own rules. As a boy, Baldur was cursed; this curse denied him the ability to feel pleasure and physical sensation. This fuels an insatiable anger and bloodlust in Baldur, who favors a brawling fighting style that blends his immense power with the raw impact of his fists. Above all else, he longs for an opponent that can truly match his prowess in battle. An opponent that can finally make him feel something.”

Through their adventures, Kratos tries to teach his son to be a better god, while Atreus tries to teach his father how to be a better human.”

Prime Video has already ordered two seasons of God Of War, with Ronald D. Moore as showrunner. There’s currently no release date for the show and filming is set to begin later this year. Moore previously angered fans by admitting he hadn’t actually played the video game series.

In other news, the original soundtrack for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has been released on streaming, two years after the game was first launched.
